Summer is in full swing here in Sweden, with temperatures above 30°C for days on end, and most of Europe has it even worse. I didn't think much about it the other day and reached for Nishane Hacivat out of habit. That was a mistake. In this heat it went absolutely nuclear, to the point where it was almost hard to breathe.
Heat amplifies everything. A fragrance that projects nicely at 15°C can turn into a cloud you can't escape at 32°C. So after my little mistake I started noting down what actually works right now. This is what I've been wearing since, and all of it holds up.
Xerjoff Erba Pura
A big Sicilian citrus opening over sweet fruit and white musk. It's the sweetest thing on this list, but the citrus does the heavy lifting and keeps it feeling airy rather than thick. Go lighter than usual, one or two sprays, and it works surprisingly well in the heat.
Nishane Wūlóng Chá
Oolong tea, bergamot, and jasmine. This is what relaxed smells like. It sits close to the skin, never gets loud, and the tea note reads clean and almost cooling. If Hacivat is Nishane at full volume, this is the same house with the volume at three.
Tom Ford Neroli Portofino
The Mediterranean summer classic. Neroli, orange blossom, and bright citrus that smells like a cold shower on the Italian coast. It doesn't last forever, but in a heatwave that's a feature, not a flaw.
Louis Vuitton Imagination
Citrus and black tea over an ambroxan base. Fresh without being generic, and the tea gives it that expensive, effortless feel. Of everything here, this is the one I keep reaching for.
Honorable mentions
Honorable mentions go to Bleu de Chanel EDT and Sauvage EDT. Both are light enough to stay inoffensive in this heat, and honestly they feel like they were made for it. The EDT versions specifically. The heavier concentrations are a different story.
