By the Fireplace opens with a sharp burst of clove and pink pepper, cut with a touch of orange blossom. The heart is the whole point of the fragrance: roasted chestnut and smoky guaiac wood, backed by cashmeran, built to smell like standing next to an actual wood fire. Vanilla and Peru balsam round out a sweet, warm dry-down. The most recognizable entry in Maison Margiela's Replica line and a genuine love-it-or-hate-it scent.
